Purchased: 2025-02-19

I bought a pair of raceworks spd pedals a while back. I have only used them on my indoor trainer but they have gotten some decent use. I have no complaints about them at all. For $18 bucks I'm super satisfied. I can't comment on how well they would hold up in the rain and dirt. They are about 30g heavier than my shimano pedals but 10% the price.

Chinese Bike After 6 Months (4500km) | Tavelo Arow
00:07:42

The reviewer provides a six-month update on the TAVELO Arow after 4,500 km of racing. The frame set is praised for no issues with the bottom bracket and seat post, but the lack of aerodynamic validation is a disappointment. The saddle is a Riot 3D printed carbon one from AliExpress, which has been good. Chain rings were changed from Pass Quest (which caused chain drops with 12-speed Shimano) to a Dutch brand, which resolved the issue. The handlebars have no issues. The reviewer switched from an L2 ERX groupset to 12-speed Shimano Ultegra, noting Sprint shifters are excellent. The cassette was changed from a Chinese lightweight one to Shimano for better shifting. Wheels are CWS, with a 50mm rear and 28mm front tire combo preferred over the 65/75 for crosswind stability. Bottle cages are Canon Arow ones, which can drop bottles if not inserted straight. Overall, the bike is good with some component changes.

AI Summary

Pros

  • Frame set has no issues with bottom bracket or seat post
  • Saddle (Riot 3D printed carbon) has been good and is now stocked in Australia
  • New chain rings (Dutch brand) fixed chain drop issues with 12-speed Shimano

more pros in the video

Cons

  • TAVELO has not validated aerodynamics of the frame, disappointing
  • Pass Quest chain rings did not work with 12-speed Shimano (chain dropping)
  • L2 ERX groupset had button issues and is now removed

more cons in the video

Key Points

  • Frame uses a cheap SRAM plastic cup bottom bracket, still spins fine
  • Seat post has not slipped
  • Chain rings changed from Pass Quest to Dutch brand (mechanic parts) in 56/42 combo

For some reason the official store isn't showing in search results for me either: https://spexcel.aliexpress.com/store/1101206109

I recently bought their '23 bibs. The leg length is great, no more mid-thigh action, but weirdly the material feels way too taut.
It's like they've gone too far the other way in trying to make the bibs feel quality by making the material thicker.

He highlights the crankset's popularity, stiffness, lightness, and reliability, noting its adoption by SRM and use in the World Tour. • Popular and reliable with few reported failures

more pros in the video

Cons

Frame
Purchased: 2025-02-13

Hello everyone, here is my go at it.

First time building a bike from scratch and obviously first time buying a frame direct from China.

Frame, fork & cockpit : Tantan FM301
Groupset : 105 di2 12v (without crankset and consumables)
Crankset : Rotor Aldhu with powermeter (from a previous bike)
Wheelset : DT Swiss 1400 48mm/62mm (spare)
Cheap jockey wheel from Ali
KMC chain

1 - Overall pretty satisfied with the build although i did not get to try the bike on the road (recovering from knee surgery). I like how it looks which is already a good thing

2 - The package was delivered damaged but the frame was well protected.

3 - Seems like this bike was designed for a gravel groupset. The FD hanger was not compatible with 105 di2 for 52/36 rings (sitting too low). I had to modify the hanger to make it work.
I also went for a gravel crank axle with spacers to increase Q Factor and compensate for little to no clearance with the frame.

Later update on 2025-03-06 by julienb

Hello Everyone I wanted to update you on the riding experience after an intense weekend of riding

Friday : solo endurance ride 130KM - 1350mD+ - 206w average for 30km/h with the Tantan

Saturday : Group ride 100k - 1000mD+ 203w average for 31 km/h with my Canyon Aeroad CFR

Sunday : Group ride 130k - 1000mD+ 181w average for 31km/h with the Tantan

Overall the Tantan does not hold me back and i expect to get the same speed for the same power.

Handling, cornering, feeling at high speed: 5/5

Stiffness: 5/5

Comfort 3.5/5 The rear end feels stiffer than my Canyon. It does not filter as much. I would expect maybe more compliance from an all road set up. Definitely needs larger tires with less pressures to bring more comfort.

Overall pretty happy with the ride. Remember that my i make the comparison with a Canyon Aeorad CFR which is proven to be a fantastic bike. I am thinking about maybe changing the seatpost as a lot of the compliance on the canyon comes from the seat post. I also want to get rid of the offset

00:13:13

The reviewer discusses the RIRO Carbon Fiber Crank extensively, highlighting its performance and design improvements over other carbon crank sets. They mention using it for over a year with more than 2,500 miles, noting its durability and solid construction. The crank set features a single bolt securing mechanism similar to SRAM, which the reviewer praises as superior to other designs. They also appreciate the better quality chain rings that come with it, which have lasted longer than those on other crank sets. However, they note an issue with the original extraction bolt cracking under excessive use, though they consider this an uncommon scenario. The reviewer also mentions a newer version of the RIRO crank set with a different design and heavier weight but improved features like a 29mm axle and better shifting performance.

AI Summary

Pros

  • Durable construction with no cracks or delamination after over a year of use
