Disc-Brakes

Disc brakes have become the go-to for modern bikes due to their superior stopping power and performance in all conditions. They work by using brake rotors, which come in different sizes, such as 160mm and 140mm, with larger rotors providing better heat dissipation and braking power—ideal for aggressive riding or downhill terrain. Smaller 140mm rotors are lighter and more suited to less demanding rides.

Disc brakes can be mounted in different ways, with post mount and flat mount being the most common options. The braking system can be hydraulic, offering the best modulation and power, or cable-actuated hydraulic hybrids, which combine mechanical ease with hydraulic power.

The brake pads are another important component, available in various compounds such as resin (organic) for smoother braking and less noise, or metallic for better durability and heat resistance. Choosing the right disc brake setup ensures consistent and reliable braking, whether you're prioritizing price-efficiency or high-end performance.
