Cheap Ali Express Saddle Update - Why I Stopped Using It

The reviewer discusses their experience with a cheap 3D printed saddle purchased from AliExpress for about $70. They have used it for approximately a year and a half, covering around 6,000 miles, primarily on indoor training rides. The saddle has dimensions of 240 mm in length and 143 mm in width, with 7x9 carbon rails and a weight of about 199 g. The reviewer notes that the cushioning, especially in the sitbone area, has softened over time, making it less optimal for rides longer than 2 hours. Despite this, they still recommend the saddle due to its affordability and durability, suggesting that it offers good value for the price. They also mention that the saddle has survived two indoor winter seasons on Zwift, including long endurance rides. However, they have since switched to a narrower saddle (130 mm) due to changes in their bike fit.

AI Summary

Pros

  • Affordable at $70
  • Lightweight (199 g)
  • Durable, surviving two indoor winter seasons and 6,000 miles

+3 more

Cons

  • Cushioning softens over time, especially in the sitbone area
  • Not ideal for rides longer than 2 hours after extensive use

I've got 2 pair of cheaper AliEx shoes much like these; https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807136310263.html
They are "ok". The cleat placement was very far forward and the toebox was very narrow.
I have some $70 Bontrager road shoes that absolutely blow them out the water in comfort for road shoes.

As far as mtb/gravel shoes I almost always wear my Shimano rx8s but I have a pair of Adidas and a pair of five10 shoes that I strap on when I know i'll be walking a bit during a ride.
I grabbed them for under $30 from Ross and TJMaxx. You'll have to go into a Ross continually to find the five10s. TJMaxx has Adidas, shimano and five10 and a website to search and order from.
https://www.sierra.com/s~bike-shoe/ (as of april 9,2025 they have a few adidas and shimano road shoes for $30-60 including the shimano rc702 for $60 in 41,42,46)

They note the packaging is different from previous YOELEO wheel sets, resembling a presentation box. The wheelset comes with spare spokes, valve extenders, and a valve remover. They are hooked, allowing use with tubes or tubeless, and have an internal width of 27.3 mm and external width of 34 mm. The reviewer appreciates the lack of rim holes, eliminating the need for rim tape, and the use of Tor800 carbon fiber with beefed-up sidewalls (3.65 mm). The wheels weigh 740 g (rear) and 630 g (front), totaling 1370 g. The reviewer also mentions the ventilation holes to remove moisture, the Pillar Winged Arrow spokes (stainless steel, anodized black), and brass nipples for corrosion resistance. The hubs are center lock only, with 36 engagements per revolution, and feature a free hub saver to prevent cassette bite. The reviewer tests the wheels for trueness, lateral deviation, concentricity, and spoke tension, finding excellent results. They also discuss tire compatibility, recommending tires from 35 to 53 mm, and demonstrate inflation with various tire sizes.

Purchased: 2025-04-04

Hello everyone,

I'm finishing assembling my LCR017-D, and everything went very well. Communication with LC was very good, but this isn't my first bike... I've already assembled a mountain bike for my son and ordered several pairs of wheels, road, CX, and MTB. I've always been very satisfied. I received a product that, to me, was in perfect condition, both inside and out. The paint and stickers were exactly as requested.
All I have to do is clean it, remove one or two spacers depending on my test ride, and install a saddle. So far, the only problem is the customs fees.
This is the version for larger riders , I'll give you the weight with the saddle...
Thank you for this forum's existence and everyone who participated.
Have a nice day!
