£60 GROUPSET? Is This Actually Rideable

The reviewer purchased and tested the LTWOO R7 2x10 speed rim brake mechanical groupset from AliExpress for £62. They installed it on a Cannondale road bike and used it for several months through winter, including commutes and rides in the Peak District. They describe it as a complete groupset including shifters, derailleurs, brakes, cassette, and chain, requiring only a separate crankset. The reviewer is impressed by the extremely low price and functional shifting performance but notes significant drawbacks in weight, chain retention, build quality, and setup difficulty.

AI Summary

Pros

  • Extremely low price (approx. £62-£73)
  • Complete groupset includes shifters, mechs, brakes, cassette, and chain
  • Shift quality is spot on and reliable once dialed in

For all here who doubt. I run the half ti cassette together with a rotor crank. I run this already 5k and not one bad shift ! I have no comparison with other stuff like Recon. Honestly I don't feel any different then a da cassette. But those da stamped cassettes are soft as hell. Sixwheels aka ti master sells other stuff too. Compared to stock stuff those things are pieces of art. Da looks cheap to that stuff. Their axles are a thing of beauty and are half the weight and don't rip above 20nm. The Ti master axles initially at 29gr where so strong that they broke the hub (50nm) The direct mount hangers fit like a glove. Or check the 1.4gr rear derailleur bolt. Maybe you can ask long term member rhino here what he thinks about Evan's stuff He buys them with the container so to speak ... As far as I have been told the shift ramps are not 1-1 copies at all as it would idd be a patent infringement I almost sound like a reseller But for me and a few mechanics who have seen this stuff irl now they all are impressed with the craftsmanship. It's a costly affair but I will replace all my stuff on my other bike as soon as my da cassette is worn out ... takes like 25k km before I can do so But of course everyone is free to decide it's not even close to say what s parts or frames and gears sells

This Ryet RS OSPW is actually really good because it has properly sealed bearings. I've done about 1000km often on wet and dirty roads with it now and it spins like new without any need for oiling and stuff. I didn't open or measure the bearings but they looked like some standard sealed bearings from the outside.

I've had this on my gravel bike for 2 years. No electrical tape, no additional loctite (there might've been some from the factory) and it holds perfectly. It looks clean and I can put the bike in the workstand without the radar being in the way. One of my favourite little bike accessories.

Did my first ride today (~72km) and I'm really happy with the result. It's comfortable, has lots of grip and is feels quick. But I don't have any data to back that up. I simply believe the latest research which shows that... • wider tires reduce rolling resistance • increasing comfort through greater air volume as suspension minimizes rider fatigue And all of that without compromising performance. The widths match quite nice according the 105%-rule (42mm outer rim width; 39.5mm tire width). The Michelin Pro 5 tires have an unmounted tread width of 45mm, which is even more than the Pirelli P Zero 40-622 at 42mm. This means that even when stretched, the risk of running off the tread is reduced. Regarding ETRTO compliance: I don't really like the concept of regulatory documents being behind a paywall. Additionally, it seems that bicycle tire standards are outdated and not up to current requirements. The complexity also exceeds that of car/motorcycle tire standards. While ETRTO is indeed a technical institution with regulatory purposes and its importance is highly regarded in various forums, threads, and Reddit discussions, this apparently doesn't tell the whole story. This article provides valuable insights: The most prominent example of deviating from ETRTO standards is SRAM/Zipp. They allow a 40mm tire on their 303 XPLR wheels (32mm inner width rim) through their 'dual testing' approach, far from ETRTO standards.

Airwolf YFR068 - 2023 Gravel Frame

The Airwolf YFR068 is a carbon gravel frame, often described as a clone of the Cervelo Aspero 5, sold primarily via Aliexpress. It features a D-shaped steerer tube for fully internal cable routing, a BBright bottom bracket, and a flip-chip fork. Typical attributes include a frame weight around 1149g (painted 54cm), fork weight around 446g, and a carbon construction. It comes as a frameset including handlebar, stem, seatpost, headset, thru-axles, and a bottom bracket. The geometry matches the Aspero across sizes (48, 51, 54, 56, 58cm). Tyre clearance is officially stated as 700x40c but users report it can accommodate up to 45-48mm tyres, similar to the Aspero. The frame lacks fender mounts and extensive bikepacking mounts, positioning it as a race-focused gravel bike. Custom paint options are available, though quality control and communication with the seller (Airwolf) are frequently cited as inconsistent.

AI Summary

Pros

  • Good value for money, offering Aspero-like geometry and performance at a lower cost.
  • Respectable weight for a complete frameset, with a lightweight carbon frame and fork.
  • Excellent tyre clearance, capable of fitting up to 45-48mm tyres despite the official 40mm rating.

+2 more

Cons

  • Frequent and significant headset issues, including bearing fit problems, fork rubbing on the frame, and persistent play that is difficult to eliminate.
  • Poor quality control and inconsistent tolerances, affecting parts like brake mounts, seatpost fit, bottle boss rivnuts, and frame/fork paint.
  • Unreliable and slow customer service from Airwolf, with difficulties in communication, obtaining replacements, and resolving disputes.

Frame
VeloBuild VB-TT-023

The Velobuild VB-TT-023 is a Chinese carbon fiber time trial/triathlon frameset with a T47 bottom bracket (86.5mm shell width) and disc brake compatibility. It is often compared to the Trek Speed Concept in geometry. The frame is praised for being stiff, fast, and offering good value. The stock cockpit includes a basebar, stem, and aerobar extensions (described as a copy of Vision TFE), with adjustable stack via included spacers (5mm, 10mm, 20mm). Builds typically weigh around 20-21 lbs (9-9.5 kg). Common builds use SRAM AXS groupsets with wireless blips and hydraulic brakes like RideRever Triva. Users note the frame is well-packaged and shipping is often quick (e.g., 3-4 weeks to US/UK). However, the stock stem and cockpit have been sources of issues, leading many to upgrade to aftermarket options like TriRig Alpha One or Winow extensions.

AI Summary

Pros

  • Good value for money, offering performance comparable to high-end brands at a lower cost.
  • Frame is stiff and fast, with users reporting personal records and high average speeds.
  • Well-packaged with quick shipping and good customer service from Chris at Velobuild.

+2 more

Cons

  • Stock stem is prone to cracking or slipping, even when torqued to spec, causing safety concerns.
  • Stock aerobar extensions are short, flat (0-degree), and lack side support, leading many to upgrade.
  • Limited internal storage; no integrated bento box (though rivets can be added on request).
