Shane Miller - GPLama - CYCPLUS L7 Radar Review // Another Budget Radar Misses the Mark

Description

The Garmin Varia has set the benchmark for cycling radar performance since 2015, so when CYCPLUS launched the L7 radar at half the price, I was keen to test it. After a cancelled order, and giving CYCPLUS more than a year to address any early issues, I have finally put the L7 through my radar test protocol - solo and side-by-side with the Varia RTL515 on real roads with known radar trouble spots. In this video, I break down how the L7 performed, and dig into all the data where it falls short. If you're considering this as a budget radar option, the savings comes at a cost.

The reviewer provides a detailed critique of the CYCPLUS L7 Bicycle Radar Tail Light, highlighting its poor performance in radar functionality. They mention that the radar frequently drops detections, has false positives, and fails to maintain consistent detection ranges. The reviewer compares it unfavorably to the Garmin Varia RTL515, noting that the L7's beam width is narrower and its detection less reliable. Despite some correct detections, the overall performance is deemed unacceptable, with the reviewer expressing frustration over the product's quality and reliability.
