Créé le : 27 mars 2026The reviewer provides a detailed, mixed review of the Magene C706 Smart GPS bike computer. They praise its hardware, including the build quality, bright 3.3-inch TFT touchscreen, dual-band GPS, speaker, and comprehensive sensor compatibility. However, they heavily criticize the software and several key functions. Major issues include poor speaker placement making audio alerts hard to hear, unreliable climb detection, problematic navigation with premature and confusing turn instructions, a poorly implemented radar (Varia) integration with weak visual and audio alerts, and overly intrusive AI notifications. The reviewer states the battery life in real-world use is around 12-13 hours, not the advertised 17-25. They conclude the hardware is excellent but the software is unpolished and needs significant updates.
Résumé IA
Pros
- Excellent build quality and a beautiful, modern object
- Bright, clear, and very readable 3.3-inch TFT touchscreen
- Dual-band GPS for better accuracy
- Integrated speaker capable of voice prompts in 13 languages
- Compatible with all sensors (power, heart rate, cadence, speed, Di2, Varia radar, etc.) and connectivity works well
- Includes useful accessories in the box (rubber case, tempered glass, elastic and out-front mounts)
- Front LED light with multiple colors (though noted as more aesthetic than functional)
- Good price point at 229€
Cons
- Poor speaker placement (facing down) makes audio alerts nearly inaudible at speed or with wind
- Real-world battery life is only 12-13 hours with full features, not the advertised 17-25
- Climb detection is inconsistent and buggy, sometimes failing to detect climbs entirely
- Navigation software is problematic: it anticipates turns too early, gives incorrect follow-up instructions, and provides excessive alerts for simple curves
- Radar (Varia) integration is poorly executed: visual alerts are minimal and blend with the map, audio alert is a weak, low sound easily missed
- Does not automatically switch to the map page for upcoming turns
- AI notifications (e.g., for high speed) are intrusive, covering half the screen and obscuring navigation
- Some software translations are still awkward
