Four (More) Cycling Radars Tested // Which Ones Are Dangerous?
Shane Miller - GPLama
February 24, 2026
In this video I put four cycling radars through real-world road testing to see if they can reliably detect approaching vehicles and provide the safety awareness riders depend on. Three of these units showed behaviour that I consider unsafe, with false negatives, early clearance warnings, and sensor dropouts that simply shouldn’t happen in a device marketed for rider safety. Only one performed well enough to inspire confidence, and that raises bigger questions about what’s being released to market.
Reviewed in this video are the Ravemen NT201, Coospo TR70, RideNow RT01, and Enfitnix RR01 cycling radars.

Created: March 25, 2026The reviewer states that the COOSPO TR70 Smart Radar Tail Light is the best performer of the four tested, with significant improvements over the original version. They note it had no false positives in their test and performed well in perfect conditions, but criticize its 'chirpy' alert behavior and lack of configurability.
AI-Summary
Pros
- No false positives recorded on the test ride
- Detection range includes a number of detections at or just beyond 140 meters
- Approaching speed was reported accurately
- Multi-vehicle detection worked well
- The reviewer states it was the one radar that didn't scare them when riding
- Credit is given to COOSPO for improving the product based on feedback
Cons
- The unit is described as 'chirpy', flagging most vehicles as orange and then red as they get within 25-30 meters, resulting in two beeps per detection
- The orange-to-red alert is not configurable on the unit
- The continual beeps led the reviewer to start ignoring the alerts, which they state is not good
- The situation is 'messy' for consumers as it's hard to distinguish the new, improved hardware version from the old, poor-performing one
Key Points
- This is an updated hardware version with firmware version 1.08
- The original TR70 had a lot of false positives
- The new version requires new hardware, not just a firmware update on the old unit
- Supports ANT+ Radar
- Has a companion app, but no audio came through during testing, so it doesn't work in the background
