Description

Can a lightweight direct-to-consumer gravel bike truly compete with premium race platforms?
In this video, I take the custom-built Lexon GFX T1000 gravel bike onto my favorite South Atlanta gravel loop to evaluate its real-world ride quality, drivetrain performance, wheel and tire combinations, and overall value proposition.
This is not just a static weight-weenie build. The goal of this project was to create a fast, efficient, race-capable gravel bike optimized around performance-per-dollar.
🔍 In this video:
• Real-world riding impressions
• Handling, comfort, and ride quality analysis
• LTWOO eGR drivetrain performance review
• Power meter and cockpit testing
• Wheelset and tire comparison testing
• Lightweight vs wide tire setup benchmark
• Gravel speed and efficiency testing
• Critical discussion of frame weight discrepancy
• Long-term durability considerations
• Final verdict on value and performance
⚙️ Tested Configurations
Setup 1:
• Easedon lightweight wheelset
• 45 mm Maxxis Reaver tires
• Complete bike weight: ~8.1 kg
Setup 2:
• Reynolds wheelset
• Continental Race King + Terra Hardpack setup
• Complete bike weight: ~8.7 kg
📊 Same gravel loop. Same rider. Same average power output. The wider tire setup proved both faster and more comfortable on rough gravel terrain.
The Lexon GFX delivers an impressive riding experience with stable handling, quiet operation, and surprisingly refined performance for its price category. However, there are still important unanswered questions regarding long-term durability, warranty support, and consistency in advertised frame specifications.
Most importantly, this build demonstrates how far modern value-focused gravel builds have progressed.
This bike is not about prestige. It is about maximizing performance per dollar.
📌 In the next video, I directly compare the Lexon GFX against leading gravel race bikes using a simple metric:Dollars per kilogram.
