LTWOO Finally Went Fully Wireless. Was It Worth The Wait?

Description

The fully wireless LTWOO EGR has finally landed outside China, and I bought a set with my own money to see if the wait was worth it. In this one I unbox it, weigh every part, put it up against SRAM Rival and SRAM Red XPLR on the scales, fit it to my gravel bike and give you my honest first impressions.

It's possibly lighter than SRAM Red XPLR on the scales and finally proper true wireless, but it's not without a few rough edges, and it tops out at a 46t cassette so check your gearing before you buy. Full long-term review coming at the end of summer once I've got the miles in.

The reviewer purchased the LTWOO eGR 1x13 (2026) groupset from AliExpress and tested it on a gravel bike. They found it to be a budget-friendly wireless groupset with some compromises in build quality and cassette compatibility, but praised its ease of installation, brake performance, and value for money.

AI-Summary

Pros

  • True wireless system makes installation easy
  • Brakes are a big step up, lightweight monoblock calipers, pre-filled and work well out of the box
  • Mineral oil brakes are easier to handle than DOT fluid
  • Shifters feel premium with good ergonomics and no rattling
  • Lighter than SRAM eTap (1102.6 g vs 1217.8 g)
  • App allows manual tuning of each sprocket, useful for cheap cassettes
  • USB-C charging port replaces proprietary chargers
  • Price around £250 with coupon code, offering good value

Cons

  • Only compatible with a 46-tooth max sprocket; cannot handle a 50-tooth cassette
  • Rear mech build quality feels cheap, especially the charging port flap and plastics
  • Left shifter has a cutout where buttons would be, feels cheap with sharp edges
  • Clutch on rear mech is not the most powerful and feels linear
  • Overall fit and finish is a step down from the road version (ERX)
  • Not confident in water ingress protection of the charging port cover
  • Pulleys are not ceramic bearings and feel standard
