New Bike Custom Build: Longteng RD301-D
Man of a Certain Age
November 13, 2024
I’m doing a custom build around a carbon fiber frame from Chinese OEM manufacturer Longteng, their model RD301-D (https://www.ltbikes.com/index/products/view/id/401.html).
The bike frame is an all-arounder, with bike geometry that sits between an aggressive road bike and a relaxed endurance bike, with lots of mounts, 38mm tire clearance and in-frame storage.
I built the bike with 45mm Elitewheels Edge Ultralight wheels and Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset. Overall, I was really pleased with the frame quality and ease to build.
I'll come back later on to share my thoughts after putting in some serious miles on the bike.

Created: May 06, 2026The reviewer discusses the LT RD301-D frame from Long Tang, an OEM manufacturer in China. He built his bike around this carbon fiber frame, describing it as an all-arounder Allroad bike. He notes that the frame came with a fork, headset, seatpost, axles, and derailleur hanger. The build process was smooth, with the mechanic finding the frame easy to work with, no alignment issues, and a perfect bottom bracket fit. However, there were minor issues with missing finishing kit parts (seatpost wedge and rubber cover) and a finicky internal storage cover. Overall, he is pleased with the frame quality.
AI-Summary
Pros
- Frame was easy to build with; mechanic said it was no different from major brand bikes
- No facing or drilling required; everything was true and aligned
- Bottom bracket fit was perfect (T47 threaded)
- Seatpost had no slippage
- Internal frame looked clean
- Long Tang was responsive when missing parts were needed
Cons
- Missing seatpost wedge and rubber cover for the seatpost junction upon delivery
- No adapter for oval carbon fiber saddle rails (standard Ritchey one-bolt design, so adapter easily found)
- Internal storage cover is finicky to close; requires careful alignment and firm pressure
