Did This Chinese Groupset Just Copy Shimano?

The Chinese groupset manufacturer L-TWOO have done something I really didn’t expect… They've ditched their Campagnolo-style thumb shifters, and gone full Shimano!

Today I'll be taking a look at their updated GRT gravel groupset. It’s a 1x12 mechanical groupset, and can support a frankly massive 11-50 cassette, but they’ve taken the design in a COMPLETELY different direction. You now get a swing-lever downshift and paddle upshift setup that looks very familiar, and pretty Shimano-esque. But the real question is, does it actually perform?

In this video I’ll install the groupset, take it out on the road, and see how it stacks up against Shimano, especially when it comes to shifting performance, braking feel, and overall value.

TLDR - The shifting is seriously impressive, but it’s not perfect….

Bottom line, the shifting is the closest I’ve felt to Shimano from a Chinese groupset—but the braking still needs a bit of work. If they can sort that out, this could be a serious contender in the budget gravel space.
