Inside XMCS – A Carbon Brand You Should Know
After meeting Peter Xu, the founder of XMCS, at Eurobike 2025, he invited me to tour his facilities in Xiamen. We visited four distinct locations: the offices, the hub factory, the rim factory, and the frame factory. It was an incredibly busy day filled with engineering insights and, of course, plenty of "Kung Fu Tea"—a business custom in the Fujian province that underscores the personal relationships behind the tech.
The 2026 Lineup: Frames & Construction
The big news for 2026 is the arrival of two new racing framesets: the Eruptor and the Disruptor.
What sets XMCS frames apart is the construction:
Monocoque Only: Peter exclusively uses monocoque construction for all frames. While this process is more expensive, it results in a superior, more cohesive structure.
Internal Wall Technology: The new aero frames feature an additional internal wall inside the top tube, down tube, and seat tube for significantly increased stiffness.
Solid Carbon Seat Stays: Specifically on the New Racing (in the video called "Eruptor" - name will change) frame, the seat stays are made of solid carbon rather than being hollow.
Aero Focus: While XMCS can easily produce round-tube frames under 700 g, Peter prefers the speed and performance of aero shapes.
Tooling Investment: the tooling fee for just five sizes of a single frameset is approximately 55,000 USD, that's why Peter will think about which type of frames he tackle each year.
Hub Innovation: The Archer Light Series
XMCS is one of the few brands in Xiamen that develops and produces its hubs completely in-house. The new series are called Silverlight and Archer light and can be shipped with Titanium free-hubs and are available in black and titanium "color".

Customization: All hubs can be built with either TPI steel or TPI ceramic bearings.
Titanium Freehubs: Now available for Shimano HG and SRAM XDR versions across the high-end range. They are stiffer and stronger than standard aluminum freehubs.
Quality Control & ISO Standards
During the visit of both the Rim and Hub factory, we also had the chance to see some ISO testing:
"Every Rim" Check: Every single rim produced has a tire mounted to verify proper seating and roundness before leaving the factory.
Tire Pressure Stress Test: On a sample basis, rims are inflated to 160 PSI (11 Bar) and monitored for 48 hours to check for deformation and air loss
ISO Pull Test: We witnessed a test where a steel spoke was pulled until it snapped at 3400 N (340 kgF), yet the carbon rim remained perfectly intact and usable.
Endurance Testing: Rims/Wheelsets also undergo a running test simulating 5,000 km of riding at 40 km/h. Same for the free-hubs.
Hub Durability: The super-light hub shells undergo a ISO-standard test, surviving more than 200,000 cycles.
Beyond Frames and Wheels
While this visit focused on wheels and frames, XMCS also produces carbon cranks and handlebars. We didn't get to dive deep into those during this trip, that'll be something for the next time. They also plan on releasing new handlebars in combination with the new frames:
UCI Approved & Global Access
For those looking to race, XMCS is rolling out newly UCI approved wheelsets featuring updated 2026 decals.
To make these products more accessible in Europe, XMCS has opened a collaborative online shop at xmcs.nl. This simplifies the ordering process and for EU riders. There is also a cooperation with a Belgium shop, but they don't have a website, yet. Check the Agents Site for all contact info.
