The KORE Carbon Spoke Wheelset is a budget-friendly 50mm deep carbon wheelset that offers exceptional value, with performance comparable to much more expensive wheels. It is praised for its light weight, stiffness, and responsive acceleration, though concerns exist about long-term durability, crosswind stability, and variable customer service. The wheels are available in carbon and steel spoke versions, with weights ranging from around 1191g to 1258g depending on configuration and seller.

Pros

  • Excellent value for money (around £310-£350; €300-$450 including shipping)12

  • Extremely loud freehub noise out of the box, though can be quieted by adding grease2
  • Some units may arrive with missing spare spokes or TPU tubes, especially from Temu or certain sellers2

KORE wheelsets

The KORE Carbon Spoke Wheelset (Cyclone) is a budget-friendly carbon wheelset available on platforms like AliExpress, Temu, Ozon, eBay, and the official KORE website, with prices ranging from around €300 to $450. Users report weights as low as 1191g including tubeless tape for the 50mm carbon spoke version, with the manufacturer stating the white Cyclone weighs around 1199g and the black version slightly heavier due to paint. The wheels feature carbon spokes and deep rims (e.g., 50mm), with some versions including rim tape, spare carbon spokes, and TPU tubes, though availability of accessories varies by seller—Temu purchases may not include spare spokes or tubes. They are noted for their stiffness, particularly lateral stiffness, and quick acceleration response, with one user finding them more responsive than Velobuild wavy wheels. Recent feedback highlights excellent customer service from some sellers, with quick responses and packing videos, but experiences vary; some users report missing accessories or difficulty obtaining warranty support for cracked rims. The wheels are extremely loud out of the box due to a 60T ratchet, but this can be quieted by adding grease; however, some users report a persistent grinding noise from the freehub that may require disassembly. The decals are not under a clear coat and can be removed with heat and chemicals on road versions, though MTB decals peel off easily by hand; the Cyclone logo cannot be omitted as it is applied during factory painting. The wheels have a drain hole and come with tubeless tape. Concerns are raised about crosswind stability due to the deep rims and carbon spokes, but some users find crosswind performance average. Long-term reports show wheels remain true after 750km, but there are reports of rim cracks after impacts, with KORE stating these are not manufacturing defects and offering discounted replacements. The steel spoke version (Top Gun) is also available, weighing about 1360g with tape for 60mm depth and offering similar value, with a MicroSpline freehub available for free upon request. Shipping to EU can be expensive (over €100 in some cases), but DDP shipping is often supported. Overall, the wheels are considered an excellent value, with multiple users reporting zero issues after hundreds of kilometers, though potential buyers should be aware of variable customer service and the risk of impact damage.

I already have them installed on my bike. I removed the rim strip and installed tubeless tape. The weights shown in the photos are with tubeless tape. So far I’m very happy with them; from the little I’ve been able to test, they are very stiff wheels, with incredible lateral stiffness. I love how they respond during accelerations.
